Your first Christmas!

We had such a nice first Christmas with you, Brooklyn! On Christmas Eve, we exchanged gifts at our house, including our traditional book exchange. It was exciting for us to get to include you in that tradition — we got you a beautiful copy of The Jungle Book that your mom already started reading to you! We ate tamales and spent the evening together. On Christmas, we had breakfast together, then headed to Nana Martin’s house to celebrate with that half of the family. You got to see your cousins, Aunt Kaelyn, Uncle Kyle, my Aunt Tammy, and you got to meet your Uncle Kris. You received SO many gifts from everyone! We had a fun time with everyone, but your Nana Martin was your favorite — she made you laugh so much! On Boxing Day, we went out shopping for after-Christmas deals in San Antonio, and had fun exploring with you. The coolest part is that the festivities are only half over, little guy! On Friday, you and your mom are going down to see your Grandma Zermeno in Beeville, and yo...

Three Months!

You turned three months old yesterday!  We celebrated by taking you to the San Antonio Zoo for the first time! They had a holiday event with Christmas lights everywhere, and you seemed really interested in everything (until you inevitably fell asleep). We saw rhinos and hippos and zebras and snakes.  I really enjoyed getting to spend time with you and your mom. You are growing so fast! It’s amazing to watch. We love you so much! -Your Dad, Kerry

We made you laugh for the first time!

Hearing you laugh is my new most favorite thing in the entire world! I love you so much! We also decorated for Christmas: We went early this afternoon to pick out your first ornament: we chose a space shuttle because of how enamored you are with stars and nebulas. We finished reading The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, and are close to finishing Murder on the Links. I really love reading to you! I’m so thankful for my little family, and excited for our first Christmas together! I love you so much! -Your Dad, Kerry

Addendum to New Braunfels in December

Just came here to add a few pictures and to say that you and your dad are my absolute favorite people to hang out with. Having dinner and dessert and looking at Christmas lights with you two was just perfect, I would do it again a thousand times over. When you’re older, I hope your dad tells you all about the magic of the lights and how they bring people happiness and warmth in the darkest, coldest month of the year.  Love you both so much! -Mom

Thanksgiving pt. 2

We had a late Thanksgiving celebration on the Saturday after and you got to meet your Aunt Adela and Uncle Johnny (Juan) for the first time. When you were tired from the drive up to Austin, you could only get cozy and fall asleep with Aunt Adela; she thinks that’s because she looks the most like Mommy. Then on Sunday your favorite cousin Aery came to see you and brought along your cousin Lizzy and her boyfriend Taylor to meet you for the first time. You let them sleep in your room because you’d rather sleep in Mom and Dad’s room anyway. Your family loves you very much bebesito.

New Braunfels in December is Charming

Today you were my wingman on a little date with your mom! We went out for Chinese food, and you did such a good job at the restaurant! Afterwards, we went to 2tarts Bakery, a super cute bakery in downtown New Braunfels that is notable currently because the owner is competing on a Food Network competition show that your mom is watching. I think it was there that you saw your first ever Christmas Tree. You were mesmerized by it. Your mom loves this time of the year, so I’m super excited to see that you have that in common with her. We went for a walk through downtown afterwards to look at the holiday lights. You were a big fan! We drove around our neighborhood on the way home to look at more lights and to get inspiration for decorating our house for the season.  When we got home we watched A Charlie Brown Christmas and The Peanuts Movie, and we all napped. It was a great day. I love you both so much. -Your Dad, Kerry

Your First Thanksgiving!

We had a great Thanksgiving together at the house! We had the food catered from my work, so mom and I could spend time with you and each other instead of cooking, and it was definitely worth it. We read a lot, watched Baby Einstein and Land Before Time, napped and hung out, and it was perfect. I am so thankful for my life, because of you and your mom. Thanks for being my family! Love you so much! -Your Dad, Kerry
