We had such an awesome weekend! On Saturday, I had to work for a few hours in the morning, so your mom took you with her to Panera for a quick lunch and then shopping to get a new dress, and you had so much fun with her! Then, around 2:30pm, we all met up at one of my most favorite places ever, The San Antonio Museum of Art! You really enjoyed seeing everything, but were especially drawn to the Ancient Egypt section. We didn’t intend to stay long, but time really flew by, and before we knew it, it was closing time. There’s still so much more to see, so we’ll have to make that a regular hangout spot! After the museum, we went to another one of my favorite San Antonio spots, The Cove, for burgers and tacos. You were really sleepy by this point but still enjoyed stealing fries from me!  It’s been such a busy period for all of us!  I started a new job and had to spend two weeks away from you and your mom, down in the valley. I was not a fan of spending so much time away from you two. During that time, you said “dada” for the first time, which is the absolute best feeling ever! On my first day back, I ended up fainting and getting a concussion, and wound up in the hospital. It seems I have an ear infection causing me to have vertigo, so I’m being treated for that. At the same time, your mom and I got food poisoning, so it’s been a really rough few weeks.  We are on the upswing though. Mostly my ear infection is giving me trouble. We went to the park today and you had fun swinging and playing on the splash pad. I love you so much! You are the best thing that’s ever happened to us. -Your Dad, Kerry

We’ve been having a lot of fun this week!  We had a party at the house on Good Friday and you got to play with your cousins, aunts, and grandparents. You painted your first Easter egg! We visited your Nana Martin and you got to spend time with that part of the family. We had a picnic at the park and you rode on your first park swing! You’re growing so big and strong!   Sweet, brave, awesome Brooklyn! You’re 6 months old now and such a delight to be around. Like dad said, you have such a sense of humor and are always smiling and laughing (when you’re not tired or teething.) I’m trying my best to keep making milk for you but you also like purees and formula. You’ve had some solid food like the banana pictured above and have also done great with that. You celebrated your first Pi Day this year! Your family fed you lots of different pies and then you crashed out on your grandpa’s bed. Your new teeth are too cute, I’m just sorry they hurt so much when they come out.  Your teachers at school love you and always say nice things about you. I’m glad you're well taken care of when dad and I have to go to work. We’re so so proud to be parents to such a cool guy, and we’re excited to keep watching you grow. It’s been such a busy time for us all! You’re 6 months old now, and currently have five baby teeth! Teething has been rough on you. Your favorite remedy is chewing on green onions! You’re almost crawling, something I learned when you rolled yourself off the bed and hit your head on the tile floor. That was a scary day that ended in the Emergency Room. Thankfully you were okay. Mom makes all of your baby food from scratch. You love everything except asparagus, but you eat it because you love your momma. You got your 6 month vaccines and flu shot today, and were so brave. You’re developing an awesome sense of humor, and are such a good boy! We adore you! I love you! -Your Dad, Kerry  

The whole family, including you, have been pretty sick with the flu for the last week or so, so that’s put a damper on our regular adventures. We did manage to go grocery, thrift, and book store shopping over the course of the last two days, which was nice. At home, we’re trying to mix in new media content into your usual routine: soul and blues music is mixed in with the sleep sounds playlists, and nature documentaries and an awesome historical drama about MLK and Malcom X are interspersed in between cartoons and Disney movies. The MLK/X show lead to an interesting conversation your mom and I had about the ways humans learn to hate. She told me about a neighbor of ours who posted in a Facebook group that their young son was racist towards a black peer, which confused them because that was not behavior they were demonstrating in any way at home. My theory -take it with a grain of salt- is that it’s not enough to just not be racist to teach acceptance. You have to be exposed to differen...
