Drummer Boy

You love music! You listen to records and dance, play drums, and scratch on a little portable turntable. You’re amazing! It so much fun watching you develop and grow. You are talking so much now! My favorite is when you say “wow”, it’s so cute! Recently, you went to your first Fiesta event, an Indian Festival at Hemisfair, and have hung out with your cousins in Austin. So much fun! You love playing outside, bouncing balls, going on walks, and playing in the mud. Spider-Man is your all time favorite, you call him dadoowah. We are so fortunate to have you as a son! I love you! -Your dad, Kerry

Growth

You keep growing and changing. It’s wonderful to watch. Likewise, the experience of raising you, and the subsequent balance between work, school, relationships, mental health, and parenting, is leading to personal growth for both your mom and myself. We don’t always get keep everything as properly balanced as we’d like it to be —though your mother is much better at it than she gives herself credit for—, but we are learning and trying. I wish I could spend all day getting into adventures with you.  I want you to have a happy, joyful life.  You are really talkative now, which is so fun. You are also mischievous and have a quirky, awesome sense of humor. You love your daycare, and your pets, and campfires, and snack time. You play drums to let out excess energy, and you love listening to music and dancing. You are curious, and sensitive, and daring, and friendly.  You are Brooklyn, and you are growing into exactly who you are supposed to become. You’re doing an awesome...

Snow Day!

You got to experience snow for the first time on January 21, 2025! You had the 20th off of school for MLK day and then they announced you would also have the 21st off due to the inclement weather. I took time off of work and we got to hang out. We were both not feeling great, with some flu like symptoms so I knew we couldn’t go out for too long but I didn’t want that snow to melt before you could check it out.  First of all, you hated bundling up. You didn’t understand why I was putting ANOTHER outfit on top of another on top of another. You were getting tired of all these clothes and then shoes to top it all off?? We almost had to abort mission just because of that. I just didn’t want you to get cold! You loved the crunchy feeling of the snow under your shoes and walked all around the front and back yards. You played with some snow that was on the chair but really once your hands got cold, you were done pretty quickly. We came inside, took all your extra layers off and watched a m...

Our little (big) guy

Brooklyn baby! I’m sorry I haven’t posted in a while. This new job of mine ended up being a lot harder than I thought but it gets easier/better each day. You don’t quite understand why I can’t play with you sometimes even though I’m right there in the other room and that breaks my heart. We’ll figure all of this out though. You have gotten in such great adventures over the past few months. I’ll post some of my favorite pictures further down. You’re starting to say more words and just like talking in general. On multiple occasions, you’ve said a word so clearly but when your dad or I try to show the other, you won’t say it again. Your dad says you replied “I don’t know” when he asked what you wanted to watch on TV and you and I said apple back and forth to each other a few times while snacking on some slices. You also sign a lot of words that your teachers have taught you at school, some of the more recent ones being down, please, and thank you.  You LOVE music. We can tell it’s som...

Brooklyn Walks

You are really growing into such an amazing person, Brooklyn! You are very confident with walking now. You especially love walking into your daycare classroom by yourself so your friends can see how grown up you are. At home one of your favorite things to do is to stand by our record player and dance while listening to records. Music brings me joy as well. I’m so happy to share that with you! Before the pandemic, I modified a portable turntable into a pretty awesome scratch instrument, and recently I showed you how it works. Now you point to it everyday and ask to scratch records. I hope you have that hobby for a long time, so that I can share that with you also! You’re such a joyous human being. You find the humor in everything, and literally wake up laughing most mornings. You definitely take after your mother in this way. You are both lightning rods for happiness. I sometimes feel like I am too repetitive with what I write here, but, one day you will hopefully read this and wh...

Halloween & Dia De Los Muertos

You’re such a cute Mickey Mouse! For Halloween, you were Mickey, your mom was Minnie, and I was Walt Disney. You had a great time Trick or Treating in our neighborhood! You also got to wear your costume to school, which was an added plus. This Saturday, we went to Muertos Fest in San Antonio, and you were able to listen to music, and see a bunch of neat art and cars. You’re growing more teeth, and it’s causing you some pain, but you had a great weekend besides that. You have such a great laugh and are so much fun to be around! I learned not to give you lollipops in your crib the hard way! Happy Halloween, baby boy! -Your Dad, Kerry
