At Home Nurse Visit, the River, & Story Time

Today was a really eventful day for you; we had an at-home nurse visit, we returned your Bili Blanket, we ate lunch and then took a walk through the river park here in New Braunfels.

The nurse’s visit went well. You are almost back to your birth weight in just over a week, which is super impressive! They took more blood to run a panel of tests to check for anything we should be concerned about.

You started tummy time yesterday and are doing an awesome job!

We walked you in your stroller through the park, but you pretty much slept through it all. We’ll go back many more times in the future. It was good that you got a bit of fresh air and sunlight!

Today was a very special day: today your mom read you your first book, Green Eggs & Ham, which is her favorite. You really seemed to love it. You come from a family of voracious readers, so get ready for a lifetime of story time. Tomorrow we are reading One Fish, Two Fish.

We love you so much!

Fall Fun

We’ve been keeping busy this month! We watched your Uncle Kyle coach your two cousins in soccer, and got to spend some time with Uncle Kris before his move to Minnesota. We spend an afternoon at the Uhland Fall Festival where you played in a hammock, hung out with some cute animals in the petting zoo, and played in a giant corn pit! We drove to San Antonio and participated in a candlelight vigil organized by The Esparanza Center in support of Palestine, and you met one of my oldest friends, Alvaro! You sometimes stand on your own now, and are more curious than ever! You are growing your canine teeth, which is great news, because you LOVE eating steak! Tomorrow you are going to get your very first haircut ever! You are the best thing that has ever happened to our family, and we love you so much! -Your Dad, Kerry

Brooklyn Walks

You are really growing into such an amazing person, Brooklyn! You are very confident with walking now. You especially love walking into your daycare classroom by yourself so your friends can see how grown up you are. At home one of your favorite things to do is to stand by our record player and dance while listening to records. Music brings me joy as well. I’m so happy to share that with you! Before the pandemic, I modified a portable turntable into a pretty awesome scratch instrument, and recently I showed you how it works. Now you point to it everyday and ask to scratch records. I hope you have that hobby for a long time, so that I can share that with you also! You’re such a joyous human being. You find the humor in everything, and literally wake up laughing most mornings. You definitely take after your mother in this way. You are both lightning rods for happiness. I sometimes feel like I am too repetitive with what I write here, but, one day you will hopefully read this and wh...

Snow Day!

You got to experience snow for the first time on January 21, 2025! You had the 20th off of school for MLK day and then they announced you would also have the 21st off due to the inclement weather. I took time off of work and we got to hang out. We were both not feeling great, with some flu like symptoms so I knew we couldn’t go out for too long but I didn’t want that snow to melt before you could check it out.  First of all, you hated bundling up. You didn’t understand why I was putting ANOTHER outfit on top of another on top of another. You were getting tired of all these clothes and then shoes to top it all off?? We almost had to abort mission just because of that. I just didn’t want you to get cold! You loved the crunchy feeling of the snow under your shoes and walked all around the front and back yards. You played with some snow that was on the chair but really once your hands got cold, you were done pretty quickly. We came inside, took all your extra layers off and watched a m...
