You Are Our World.

Every day has been a new adventure.  You are so close to walking on your own! You love standing up and moving around.  You clap and wave and blow raspberries and love high fives. You like listening to music, and reading with mommy, and  napping in my arms. You have a voracious appetite and love trying new foods. Everyone loves the time they get up to spend with you. Especially your mom and me. We are trying so hard to not mess this up — I want you to have the best life possible, the life you deserve to have. I want to be present in your life. I want that to be how you remember me when I’m gone, as the dad that was always there when you needed him. Sometimes I feel like I miss the mark, but I will always try my best to be the husband and father my family deserves. No matter where this life takes you, please always remember that your very existence fundamentally changed our entire lives for the better.  You’ve given me purpose, and I’m so very grateful for you. Please ...

Our 10 Month Old

You’re getting so big! You are having some growing pains—your teeth are hurting bad, a new molar just broke through—, but you’ve been so brave and wonderful to be around. I realized that my commitment to my job, with hours of round-trip driving and the expectation of 24 hour access, was making it difficult to be the best dad I can be for you. So, I decided to leave and look for something that gives me the flexibility to be there for you when you need me. I just got to spend the day with you and it was awesome! It’s such a joy to watch you grow and learn. I know I sound like a broken record, but being your dad has been an amazing experience for me. I hope you get good rest tonight. I love you! -Your Dad, Kerry

Fourth of July 🇺🇸

Happy 1st Independence Day baby! First, we went to see your Dada at work in George West. You were excited as always to hang out with him for a little bit. Then we went to Beeville to visit your Grandma and Opa. They showed you what Independence Day is all about: eating delicious food like bacon wrapped hotdogs and hamburgers, watching movies like Independence Day, Hamilton and National Treasure, and taking GREAT naps. Dada even came all the way to Beeville after his long shift at work to spend more time with us. He’s the best. You slept so soundly on the drive home while listening to some jazz music and only woke up when we were almost home because our street was lined with police officers. I still don't know what happened out there. We love experiencing your firsts with you and hope you had a great day! Love, Mama

Father’s Day Weekend

Thank you so much for letting me be your dad! I’m so proud to have you as a son! When I came home from work on Friday, you were sitting up on the floor with your back to me — something new you can do all by yourself—, and when you heard my voice, you scooted all the way around to look at me! Later that evening, I grabbed some animal crackers to share with you and sat on the floor with you. You made an expression that made me feel like the luckiest person alive; you were so excited that I came down to play with you! We shared animal crackers and hung out, and it was the best! Your school says you grabbed a balance bar they have mounted on the wall and picked yourself up to a standing position. That’s a huge milestone!  On Saturday, you joined me for my morning commute to George West, Texas. We ate breakfast at the hotel, and met up with your Grandma, Opa, and your Aunt Adela, and they took you on shopping adventures and to hang out at their house. You had so much fun! This mo...

Memorial Day Weekend

We had such an awesome weekend! On Saturday, I had to work for a few hours in the morning, so your mom took you with her to Panera for a quick lunch and then shopping to get a new dress, and you had so much fun with her! Then, around 2:30pm, we all met up at one of my most favorite places ever, The San Antonio Museum of Art! You really enjoyed seeing everything, but were especially drawn to the Ancient Egypt section. We didn’t intend to stay long, but time really flew by, and before we knew it, it was closing time. There’s still so much more to see, so we’ll have to make that a regular hangout spot! After the museum, we went to another one of my favorite San Antonio spots, The Cove, for burgers and tacos. You were really sleepy by this point but still enjoyed stealing fries from me! On Sunday, we FaceTimed with Nana Martin and your Aunt Kaelyn, and then went shopping at Bussey’s Flea Market in Schertz. We found you an awesome rechargeable fan that can attach to your stroller, whi...

You say Dada now!

It’s been such a busy period for all of us!  I started a new job and had to spend two weeks away from you and your mom, down in the valley. I was not a fan of spending so much time away from you two. During that time, you said “dada” for the first time, which is the absolute best feeling ever! On my first day back, I ended up fainting and getting a concussion, and wound up in the hospital. It seems I have an ear infection causing me to have vertigo, so I’m being treated for that. At the same time, your mom and I got food poisoning, so it’s been a really rough few weeks.  We are on the upswing though. Mostly my ear infection is giving me trouble. We went to the park today and you had fun swinging and playing on the splash pad. I love you so much! You are the best thing that’s ever happened to us. -Your Dad, Kerry
